How Workato and the ONE Platform® Are Connecting Ticketing Systems to Real-Time Operational Response

In most operational environments, there’s a gap between the systems that manage work and the systems that communicate about it. A ticket gets created. A task gets assigned. Something that needs attention has been logged. But the people who need to respond to it are out on a floor, in a facility wing, or on a warehouse dock, not sitting at a screen where they’d see a new ticket come in. By the time the right person becomes aware of it, significant time has passed.

Closing that gap is exactly what this integration is designed to do.

THE FOUNDATION

Workato is an automation and integration platform that connects business applications and workflows across an organization. It’s used across a range of industries to automate processes that would otherwise require manual handoffs between systems, pulling data from ONE Platform® and using it to trigger activity in another.

For operations teams using third-party ticketing systems to manage tasks, maintenance requests, service calls, or any other structured work, Workato provides the connective tissue between those systems and the broader operational technology stack. It’s a platform built for making different systems work together without custom development for every connection.

THE CONNECTION

Workato connects external ticketing systems to the ONE Platform® through the ONE Platform® Web API. When a new ticket is created in the ticketing system, Workato calls a ONE Platform® API endpoint, which starts a configured event flow.

What that means operationally is that a ticket, whatever its source and whatever its content, can now trigger an immediate notification through the ONE Platform®. Radio alerts, mobile notifications, dashboard updates, SMS messages: any of the output channels the ONE Platform® supports can carry the alert that a ticket has been created and action is needed.

The configuration happens at the ONE Platform® level, so facilities and operations teams can determine which types of tickets trigger which kinds of alerts, who receives them, and through what channels. A maintenance request that comes through a facility management system might alert a specific maintenance team over radio. A service ticket from a hospitality platform might notify front desk staff on their mobile devices.

THE IMPACT

The most direct benefit is the one that shows up immediately: the time between a ticket being created and a staff member knowing about it goes from however long it takes someone to check a screen to essentially zero. In any environment where response time matters, that compression of time translates directly into operational performance.

There’s also a broader benefit around workflow integration. When ticketing systems and real-time communication systems are connected, the operation starts to function more cohesively. Information created in one system automatically activates response in another. The manual step of seeing a ticket and then communicating about it to the right person is removed from the process.

For administrators and managers, this integration supports the kind of operational visibility that helps teams stay ahead of issues rather than always catching up with them.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR OPERATION

Workato brings the ability to connect virtually any ticketing or task management system to the ONE Platform®. For organizations running multiple operational systems that need to talk to each other, this integration is a way to make sure that work created in any of those systems immediately reaches the people responsible for acting on it, through the communication channels they’re actually using in the field.
